How therapy with me can help you:
My hope is that you will find my approach warm, caring, and genuine. I use a Feminist Therapy perspective that situates you in the position of expert, while I undertake a role as copilot. I endeavor to provide you with a brave and nonjudgmental space identify goals, explore your identity, be your authentic self, and effect change in your life.
The techniques and interventions I use are drawn from both Feminist Therapies and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). You'll notice me using reframes, reflections, and restatements of your thoughts and feelings. We'll examine your coping strategies in response to life stressors and grow your capacity to manage both the stress originating from the routine and from transition.
About me:
Mental health counseling is my third career. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in French and a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I spent the past 15 years working with adolescents and young adults in nonprofit and university settings and earned a Master’s Degree in Education and Human Development in Higher Education Administration from George Washington University. Those experiences led me to counseling and I completed my Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (also from GW) in 2022. From nonprofits to college campuses, I have gravitated towards roles in which I support, cheerlead, and advocate for others. I look forward to working with you to do the same.
I'm an avid reader, mediocre golfer, and aspiring world traveler. I live in DC with my wife.
