Stacey McDonald Lowe, PhD

Stacey McDonald Lowe, PhD is pursuing full licensure as an LMFT in DC and Maryland, serving as a resident therapist under the supervision of Dr. Laura Golojuch. Her experience includes working with clients throughout the lifespan. She is passionate about working with pre-teens, teenagers, young adults individually or in couple’s therapy as they transition through life’s challenges.

Stacey’s work in marriage and family therapy has afforded her an opportunity to build upon the foundation provided by her studies in Human Development and Educational Psychology as learning theories suggest that behavior changes can evidence learning has occurred and, as such, we can optimize behavior changes to improve the function and satisfaction individuals have with significant relationships.

Stacey’s work is guided by the belief that everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and valued. She collaborates with families, couples, and individuals to unpack and work through challenges and struggles from a strengths-based perspective. Whatever your needs may be, Stacey is here to offer support. Therapy is a process of growth and self-discovery, and in sessions, Stacey promotes behavioral transformation by encouraging a positive outlook, strengthening personal agency, and the adoption of new attitudes and reactions. She adopts a strengths-based, emotion-focused, solution-focused orientation.

Stacey works with individuals and couples from many different backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender expressions. She is especially interested in working with members of marginalized populations whose life experiences are often invalidated or misunderstood within the larger society. She works to create a safe space where, together, we can explore areas that have been difficult to navigate alone.
